Starting to Decorate

So, I love looking at Etsy for crafting ideas. I found one individual who makes pieces of art by layering paper. I stole that idea and made it my own. I painted each canvas in a lavender color that I thought would compliment the green in the room. I also purchased a set of patterned card stock. I will not bore you with the process but it involved a lot of drawing, cutting, and resizing. I am trying to make the room age appropriate, but also able to grow along with her over the years.

Turtle
Owls
Elephant and Bird
I think the nature theme is coming together.

The Benefit of Knowing Great People

My Spring Break was last week and all I could think about was getting the baby's room painted. I knew that I wanted to get the room painted, but I also didn't want to stress out Joe (this is the busy time in his semester). So, I asked two friends from school if they would come over and help me paint while Joe was teaching. They were amazing. The two of them came over around 10am and left by 2pm with the room completely painted and in great shape. All I had to do was supervise and make lunch which was a pretty sweet deal.
Joe and I chose a bright, happy green for the room. Katie and Dalton have amazing team work skills.
Katie took on the job of painting while Dalton was the designated tape master.
Even though Dalton was forced into manual labor over his break he still had a smile on his face.
Here is a look at the room color against the dark furniture we purchased.

Joe and I have decided on a natural theme for the baby's room. Our hope is to have trees up on the wall shortly.

First Glimpse at the New Loyacano

I have not been very good about updating facebook (or the world) about the little one on the way. I am in my 25th week, but these sonogram photos were taken during my 22nd week. We were able to spend a good deal of time in the sonogram room with the technician and she pointed out all of amazing, and healthy, parts of our new baby girl. Here are just a few images:
This little girl is already a stunner. Just look at that cute little nose.
A wider shot.
Baby feet are even cute when in blurry sonogram form.

My goal is to keep this blog updated with the happenings in the Loyacano household. I know that a lot of my friends and family do not live close enough to regularly receive updates, so hopefully this will help to keep everyone in the loop.
